A new report from Capgemini Consulting found that virtually all businesses have experienced major changes in the competitive environment during the last three years, yet 38 percent don't believe that business IT provides the agility needed and 29 percent don't believe their IT function can keep pace with the changing business environment. The study, of large European enterprises, also found that companies in the most volatile markets were the most likely to adopt a proactive response to business change. Capgemini recommends that companies adopt an IT strategy based on customer intimacy, reinvent the IT organization to stay agile, be good at managing IT investments as a balanced portfolio, focus on the payback, and take action to achieve IT agility.
