Study: Fear of intellectual property theft on the rise
A new study from the Enterprise Strategy Group finds that nearly half of all companies either know that or suspect that they have lost sensitive data in the past 12 months. Concern is so pervasive, in fact, that about 90 percent of companies plan to implement new technology to fight intellectual property theft. The study found that most organizations believe that IP is usually stolen from a company's networks via the Internet, email or Instant Messaging (IM), but that many companies still don't lock down these methods of entry. Manual methods of protecting businesses against hacking just don't work with today's sophisticated IP thieves, the study noted.
