Study: Failed IT outsourcing due to poor management

According to a new report from sourcing advisory firm TPI, many businesses are doing a poor job of managing IT outsourcing projects. Not only do some companies put more emphasis on setting up the outsourcing contract than managing it, many also held unrealistic expectations on how the deal works in real-life conditions. Much of the problem stems from a lack of communication and clarity between client and service provider about the scope of services to be provided. Companies tend to place much of the blame for their dissatisfaction with IT outsourcing relationships on themselves, not the outsourcing provider, the study noted.
