Staples expands to IT services

Staples Inc., the popular office supply store with nearly 2,000 stores across the country, is throwing its hat into the IT ring, including the data center.

Staples officials said they're targeting all kinds of clients with consulting services, data center services such as disaster recovery and data center media management. The company also has printer management services and its own software for managing operations.

Joe Kalinowski, the vice president of finance for Staples's technology solutions unit, tells CIO Magazine: "Technology was a logical extension."

And it's amazing that a national retailer is expanding like this at a time when the economy is still coping with a recession.
