Spotlight: Amazon removes device encryption from Fire tablets

In the midst of Apple's battle royale with the FBI around encryption of data on devices, Amazon has removed the ability for users to encrypt data on its Fire devices. According to Ars Technica, when Amazon released Fire OS5 late last year, it removed the capability, calling it an enterprise feature that not many customers used. At one time Amazon had offered some features on the Fire clearly aimed at business users but perhaps it's become clear that the Fire isn't exactly the tablet of choice for mobile workers.
