Specifics Emerge on Novell/Microsoft Linux Agreement
The public recently got a glimpse into the 2006 Linux agreement signed between Novell and Microsoft, thanks to information that was published in Novell's annual 10K filings to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Under the terms of the agreements, Microsoft will spend hundreds of millions of dollars on licensing fees and sales and marketing over five years, including $240 million for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server subscription certificates. Novell, meanwhile, will pay Microsoft a percentage of revenue from its open-source products, according to Network World.
