Some tech firms continue to move ahead

It's always good to take the temperature of the tech market. And while the IT sales outlook for the rest of this year remains poor, there are a few bright spots. And that includes good news from Juniper, Qwest, Nokia, Nortel and Cisco, says CIO.com. These companies are signaling that they are looking to consolidate other businesses, and that means they actually will come out of the recession stronger.

For example, Cisco announced last week that it will buy application management vendor Tidal Software for about $105 million, reports CIO.com. This increasing confidence among cash-rich companies is an indication that the recession may be slowing. Economists recently surveyed by the Wall Street Journal said overwhelmingly that they expect the recession to end by September. We can only hope that estimate is true.
