Social networking creeps into the business office
Security concerns pushed MySpace.com to hire a top-level executive after a rash of criminal events tied to users of the online community. But that doesn't seem to be slowing down the latest technology wave--social networking. In fact, if recent reports are to be believed, social networking is creeping toward the corporate work environment. Advocates claim the latest communications approach can push productivity ahead. The most recent start-up to enter the marketplace, Visible Path, has some hefty competition in place already. LinkedIn has long been used as a contact networking service among professionals. Just as the personal networking sites help put people together based on likes and personality, Visible Path promises to help users discover common sources and contacts so they can approach each other for business purposes.
