Smart Trojan targets Firefox extension for access
The newest Trojan discovery involves a spoof of a Firefox browser extension in which an identity-stealing keylogger installs itself undetected. According to security vendor McAfee, which issued an alert about the latest malware, once installed the FormSpy Trojan horse tracks mouse movements and key use to grab online banking or password information. It also can grab passwords from FTP and ICQ activity. Whatever data is stolen is then sent out to an IP address hard coded into the Trojan. It's time to educate Firefox users of the dangers of downloading extensions that are bogus, say experts.
