Roadblocks stymie CIOs in the coming years
While funding doesn't seem to be a problem, CIOs have other roadblocks that could hinder their effectiveness, according to a recent Gartner study. Although CIOs generally have the requisite IT expertise and business skills necessary to get the job done, their employees are often lacking those same business skills. That could prevent CIOs from reaching their most important goals for the next three years: business process improvement, enterprise architecture, business relationship management and business intelligence. In addition, most CIOs consider innovation critical to their companies' success, but few believe that their current rate of innovation will get the job done.
