RFID tags could prove vulnerable to attack

The newest hacking front could very well be the radio frequency identification (RFID) tag. Researchers say it's possible to plug in a software virus that could wreak havoc with both RFID capabilities and data collection. It seems you can infect the microchip that RFID depends on, and the European-based research team that announced the risk has also offered tips to better secure the tags from potential infection. As one industry pundit notes, the virus threat is not really a huge surprise since RFID is a system created with very little security aspects from the start.
