IT departments spend a lot of time worrying about security lapses that take place outside of the workplace on laptops and BlackBerrys. But a survey, conducted by mobility vendor Fiberlink, of 300 remote employees who work on company-issued laptops found that remote workers have their company's best interests in mind in terms of network security.

The survey found that 70 percent of remote workers said they would rather get their work done on a secure network connection even if it meant their assignment or work would be late.

Connecting to an unsafe network wasn't an option for these workers. The same remote workers also overwhelming believe in-house IT staffers are doing a good job. The survey said 96 percent felt their IT department enables and supports mobility by supplying devices, providing network access and helping them stay connected when working remotely.
