The one big hurdle to Bluetooth deployment within the enterprise has been regulatory issues, but that's not stopping advocates and Bluetooth fans from trying to push the wireless technology ahead. The specification writers and experts plan to use high-speed wireless technology from the WiMedia Alliance to build out the next generation of short-range networks. It's hoped the networks will deliver data, audio and video faster to Bluetooth devices. The technology in play, called Ultrawideband, has already been discovered by the U.S. Army, which hopes it will boost data sharing in the combat field.
