Pulling data together requires a strategy

Enterprises typically have no trouble gathering and collecting customer data given all the touch points in place today. The big issue is being able to organize, analyze and use that data to foster better customer service, business operations and higher efficiency. As one analyst points out, the hurdle is consolidating all the data houses and determining how to best integrate the data piles. The effort is so huge experts see the need for a "data steward" within the IT group at some point.
