Programming work plays into CIO's expertise
Ask CIO Martin Davis, who helms IT at Wachovia, what the biggest career element that's influenced his leadership role is and you might be surprised to hear the answer. Davis says it was his early stint as a developer that has helped him "relate" to the work his team is doing across the enterprise and which allows him to understand the challenges his team faces. His current top three initiatives are boosting customer service and loyalty programs, pursuing greater efficiency and handling the slew of acquisitions his company has undertaken this year. Success going forward is tied to what Davis terms "applied technology innovation."
