Outsourcers grapple with worker shortage
Outsourcing is thriving in India, yet some Indian firms are facing a potential worker shortage. US-based companies doing business there, however, don't believe it's a major issue. According to Wipro's board chairman, his company is only re-strategizing to find the right talent, reach out to science graduates and boost training. Yet one consulting firm's report predicts a shortage to the tune of nearly half a million workers--in just four years. Wipro, along with several of its outsourcing competitors, are shoring up training programs to make sure that they have the IT talent to keep competing in the growing marketplace.
