Oracle swings a big stick at Red Hat

The newest battle for dominance in the Linux space is between Oracle and Red Hat. As Oracle CEO Larry Ellison explains, his company wants to put its own stamp on Linux--he says that Oracle's version of Red Hat Linux will beat out the original Red Hat system. He also says he'll do Linux support cheaper and will grab a larger slice of market share. While that would have most companies shaking in their boots, it's not scaring Red Hat at all. Red Hat's CEO is swinging back, saying that Oracle's plans to change the Linux code would invalidate hardware and software compatibility certifications.
