Oracle's first-ever Patch Tuesday event included 51 security fixes for vulnerabilities in both the vendor's application server and database product lines. Of the total, just about two dozen are for flaws in database products, half of which could allow a machine to be exploited remotely without login and password requirements. The vendor's "Critical Patch Update" also boasted 12 fixes for the Application Server software--with eight allowing the same type of unauthorized access due to a low level of required authentication.
