Oracle increasingly interested in Linux
Oracle's leader knows his company is missing a key software stack element--Linux--and says it would make a great deal of sense to pull it into the mix, just as Microsoft has. The vendor has taken some tepid moves toward making it happen, considering the possibility of acquiring some key middleware vendors that could help bring open source technology into play. Oracle even considered buying Novell at one point, though the intellectual property issue stalled that idea.
