On a more serious note, let's talk salaries
After a night of fireworks and a week of iPhone frenzy, I thought it would be good to get serious again and take a look at some hard numbers on CIO salaries. After all, who doesn't like to see what their peers are making? Janco Associates released its mid-year salary survey recently and it reveals that some CIOs are raking in some very serious cash. While the average CIO makes just under $175,000 a year, some are bringing in as much as half a million dollars--and that doesn't even include bonuses and stock options.
In today's career section, we take a look at the CIO's need for better emotional intelligence. After all, CIOs are no longer just managing the bits and bytes of their enterprise networks; they are expected to be great managers and excellent public speakers and must remain calm and collected in even the most stressful situations. Meanwhile, in today's technology section, we look at malicious web sites and email attacks, both of which are on the rise. CIOs should take note: they stand directly in the path of pointing-fingers when these threats harm a company or its partners. -Patty
