Obama techie heads to FCC

If there's a chance for tech, President-elect Barack Obama will take it. In one of his latest moves signaling his embedded interest in IT, Obama intends to nominate his technology adviser, Julius Genachowski, to head the Federal Communications Commission. He's a former Harvard Law School classmate of Obama's and he worked at the FCC during the Clinton administration.

During Obama's campaign, Genachowski served as the top technology adviser to Obama. He put together a technology and innovation plan that backs open Internet or "net neutrality" protections; media-ownership rules that encourage more diversity; and expansion of affordable broadband access across the country.
