Nvidia could exit chipset market

Existing rumor on the Internet suggest that Nvidia may cease developments of new nForce media and communication processors--or chipsets. According to The Inquirer's Charlie Demerjian, Nvidia's CEO had a meeting recently with its Taiwanese motherboard partners in which the question was posed as to whether Nvidia should continue in the chipset business. Apparently, he was met with a deafening silence. The conclusion: Demerjian, after having spoken with people who were present, now believes that--barring those already in the final stages of development--there will be no new chipsets from Nvidia. Whatever the case, Nvidia has denied the chipset-killing rumors. So even if true, it will not happen until at least a few months down the road.
