A new worm, being described by security experts as "insidious," hijacks a user's Internet Explorer home page and pulls up a new browser window that for all purposes looks legit but actually allows the worm to grab instant messaging contact information. In an advisory alert issue late last week, FaceTime Communications said the malware, which is being called "yhoo32.explr," also drops a graphic on the infected user's desktop with the message: "You are beaten. It is useless to resist."
