The closest people to confidential and valuable data are database administrators. One vendor now believes that the segment of users requires its own set of security management tools. Oracle is coming out with new applications that can restrict data access to those responsible for managing and handling the data. Called the Database Vault, the program maps out enforcement controls related to who needs access to which database. Oracle says this technology can go a long way to helping businesses meet increasing regulatory requirements regarding data handling, access, security and storage protection.
