New approach for data management

One of the newest enterprise trends is the adoption of master data management, a modular strategy for putting valuable data to good use. But it isn't easy and it isn't quick, especially if your data infrastructure is old, squeaky and hard to manipulate. A good first step is creating a system of records--a data mart, if you will--using one of the new tools available today. That's the approach that Nationwide Insurance took, and as its tech leader notes, a vital aspect was establishing governance around the data.
