Microsoft shines light on virtualization
Microsoft is busy on a lot of fronts these days, and the latest is virtualization technologies. The vendor is pushing out its Virtual Server product for free--a direct competitive hit against the popular VMware Server offering. It's also working hard to get Windows Hypervisor, an application currently code-named Viridian that runs beneath the operating system and manages resources for multiple virtual machines, out into the market around the same time Novell pushes out its Suse Linux Enterprise Server. But it's likely that Viridian won't debut until after Microsoft's Longhorn Server arrives after a few more years.
