Microsoft's latest mini-PC strategy emerges

There was much hype and rumor mongering as Microsoft readied its latest product, codenamed Origami: What the vendor termed as an "ultra-mobile personal computer" (UMPC). But as with most of today's new technology, Microsoft's mini-PC isn't really a new product. Several other vendors are set to debut very similar devices and, as experts explain, there are some big hurdles in having UMPCs take root, from a high price point to a customer's need for yet another mobile device to carry around. What is so interesting is that the product does mark a new business strategy by Microsoft to ensure that its software applications morph and fit all the new mobile devices coming to market.
