Microsoft issues IE patch
September 26, 2006 — 8:01pm ET
For only the second time in 2006, Microsoft is issuing a fix outside its regular Patch Tuesday. They are releasing a patch for the IE browser VML vulnerability, which has been tagged as "critical" for Windows 2000, XP and Windows Server 2003 machines. The patch comes more than a week before the vendor's monthly Patch Tuesday which will take place October 10th. The only hurdle now is that the patch isn't compatible with the third-party workaround that many enterprises may have been relying on for the past two weeks while awaiting Microsoft's fix.
