Microsoft CIO fired
No CIO's job is ever safe, as Microsoft CIO Stuart Scott just found out. He was fired by Microsoft after an internal investigation determined that he had violated unspecified company politics. Scott, who did not comment about his job loss, was rumored to have been placed on administrative leave more than a month ago. No details about his departure were announced. Scott was a corporate vice president at Microsoft. He joined the company in late 2005 as co-CIO and was given full control of the IT department late last year. Before joining Microsoft, he spent 17 years at General Electric, where he most recently was CIO of the GE Industrial Systems division. With his departure, the CIO's job will be shared by two people: Shahla Aly, general manager of worldwide services, strategy and planning, and Alain Crozier, corporate vice president and chief financial officer of Microsoft's sales, marketing and services group.
