Making e-Discovery painless

You probably wince when looking at the dollar signs associated with e-Discovery compliance, a new legal requirement for companies large and small. But there are plenty of products coming on the market to archive email and manage documents in the event you are faced with a lawsuit--these include email archiving vendors and programs that search stored messages.

Specialized products also are available to collect and preserve data. And some are designed to assist attorneys, paralegals and other legal pros in reviewing and analyzing information.

Brandon D'Agostino, ESI counselor at Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, chose one product to identify relevant data. And because of it, he told Information Week, "We don't have to hire IT staff to maintain a large e-discovery environment."
