Make sure that on-demand service is really on-demand

There is more than one reason why enterprises are eyeing software-as-a service models these days. Deployment, integration and security are just three headaches that can be pushed off IT's plate when it comes to new applications and dealing with increasing application management. The big impetus, though, is that managed service providers are pushing on-demand, real-time application delivery as it's saving them time, money and labor as well. Yet IT leaders should be forewarned, not every on-demand service offering is truly on-demand and there can be some upfront tie-in work and support needed for quite awhile so make sure you understand what's truly being provided in terms of on-demand before signing on that dotted line.
