Lost your job? Try social networking to find one
People are discovering a new way to look for a job: Through social networking. Web 2.0 technologies have been emerging for a while, but with the growing unemployment rate, it is imperative to find new and direct ways to look for work.
A CIO.com article this week underscores how beneficial this is for people looking for work in the IT industry. They are likely to be comfortable with social networking anyway. They know how to use social websites, and they are likely to find a job ad more quickly than a person with fewer online skills.
Brennan Carlson, a newly hired product manager at email marketing firm Lyris, told CIO.com that web tools are essential to any job search. "If you're not online, get online," Carlson said. "Be everywhere. Start using these services...If you're not on Twitter, get there. Start tweeting."
