Listen to junior employees, harness innovation
Although employees who have been out of school for only a few years have a lot to learn, they can also teach veteran IT staff a few things. Younger employees are more likely to apply newer, state-of-the-art technology to traditional processes, often increasing productivity and functionality in the process. Allowing them to show you what they can do means promoting them regularly and listening when they offer non-traditional solutions that can influence the company's key technology strategies and decisions. Be open-minded and leave room for experimentation. It can really pay off.
