Linux coming into its own

With what has to be the most promising statistics yet about open-source in the enterprise, a new study reveals that nearly half of enterprises will be running valuable applications on Linux by 2012. Saugatuck Research says that Linux has finally achieved a measure of acceptance in the enterprise, though only 18 percent of businesses will be using Linux in business-critical roles by year's end. The group expects a 40 percent growth spike in the next two years alone.
