Layoff Watch: AT&T
AT&T announced today that it plans to cut 1.5 percent of its workforce, in response to "a sluggish U.S. economy." The cuts will focus primarily on management and other "areas that have little contact with customers." According to the company, the coming job cuts represent the "next step in streamlining its operations," following a number of acquisitions of regional companies during the past few years.
