Lawmakers say agency breach demands more action

It seems the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs believes offering free credit counseling and monitoring is all that's needed after one of the biggest data security breaches occurred within its agency. But some lawmakers believe the effort falls way short of what the agency should be doing in the wake of losing confidential data on nearly 27 million veterans. Some want the agency to centralize its IT operations and layer on more security in the wake of the embarrassing incident. Furthermore, the agency's security leaders still don't have authority to enforce much-needed cyber security rules and regulations.
