Law would stop search engine censorship abroad
The government's determination to stop tech titans like Google and Microsoft from doing business with undemocratic regimes has prompted a new law, called the Global Online Freedom Act, that would stop search giants from adjusting search results in specific countries in an effort to adhere to censorship requirements. The bill features some substantial penalties for non-compliance as lawmakers believe the companies who've gone into the Asian market and agreed with censorship rules have compromised their corporate integrity.
