Laptop fire under investigation
Business travelers who depend on downtime during flights to catch up on email, project reviews and other work will likely have to find another way to pass the time as more airlines are expected to ban laptop use during flights. Actually, the ban is on the laptop battery in light of the Sony battery recall because of potential fire issue. The incident last week at Los Angeles airport will likely only spur more airlines to enact such a security measure. A ThinkPad T43 caught fire as a passenger was boarding an airplane. The passenger ran off and airport officials were left to put out the blaze. At this point, however, it's unclear if the laptop was running on Sony batteries. Sony initiated a huge battery recall on Dell and Apple laptops a few weeks back.
