Wages for U.S. tech jobs fell 6 percent in the third quarter, compared with the same period last year, according to IT staffing company Yoh Services. The Philadelphia-based company's Index of Technology Wages samples the technology labor pool at about 1,000 companies in the aviation, engineering, IT, manufacturing, scientific, telecommunications and utility sectors.

Yoh expects softness in wages to continue through the end of the year, but said the situation may stabilize early next year. The survey found that wages in the telecommunications, health care and aviation sectors remained steady in the third quarter while other areas suffered. The hot jobs that are available in the third quarter included Java developer, Oracle database administrator, .Net developer, SAP consultant and firmware/embedded engineer.
