A former IT leader is charged with hacking into his former employer's email network, in order to inform other executives about impending layoffs. According to the New York State Attorney's Office, Stevan Hoffacker is charged with a single count of unauthorized access to Source Media Inc.'s computer network. The former IS director and VP of technology left the company three years ago. The company claims that the alleged hacking has cost over $100,000 so far, in legal and investigative fees.

If MY job was on the line, I would want to know...What does it say about the company, that there passwords weren't changed in 3 YEARS!?!? That's the real problem. Instead of pointing fingers outside, they should look inside their company. And, I bet the people that he warned, that "told" their bosses about the "warning" got fired anyway. I hope they like unemployment. I think he was just trying to do a nice thing, and it backfired. The governement spending money on this is ridiculous, when there are child predators and identity thieves out there. What is their rationale?
