A mass exodus of IT expertise can cripple a company and bring it to its knees. That's the story related in financial documents filed by Delta Air Lines, after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy two years ago. It's a compelling story that every IT leader should read--given that it's a scenario that could take place just about anywhere. The tech brain drain led directly to internal business chaos that not only hurt the bottom line but impacted operations tremendously. The labor scenario eventually led Delta to outsource its IT to IBM.
