IT budgets sink to '05 levels

Your IT budget is looking flat. In fact, it is looking downright deflated. A new Gartner report found that the average 2010 IT budget is likely to look like it's still 2005, with little, if any growth, in the last five years.

Gartner said the CIOs surveyed are still focused on ways to keep costs down and trying to improve business processes. They are still working on making IT a larger business partner in their organizations beyond the IT arena. And they are looking around at the potential for growth with great caution.

While 2009 was a very challenging time for CIOs, 2010 will be a tough year as well. IT is still not experiencing the recovery, and IT executives are still trying to find stable ground.

Gartner studies already have shown that IT execs are trying to improve the business process, not to mention attracting and retaining new customers. The big question is what will you have to leave behind in this new world order?
