Is RSS really secure?

For many companies, offering access to content via Really Simple Syndication, or RSS, is a great way to drive website traffic, drum up interest in products, solutions and companies, and share a distributed feed among a choice group of subscribers. But some believe RSS also is susceptible to more than its share of malware and viruses, thanks in part to exposure of the data from cross-site linking. The speed and ease of distribution make RSS an ideal delivery vehicle for malware along with information. Some security vendors are beginning to address the threat posed by RSS technology. Solutions include Authentium's Extensible Service Platform for Enterprise and Secure Computing's Webwasher.
