Is compliance spending leveling off?

A new survey from CIO Insight has found that many CIOs say they have attained compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, HIPAA, the Patriot Act and the Gramm-Leachly Bliley Act. This is in contrast to earlier surveys in which respondents felt reaching compliance was still a ways off. It's not clear yet whether this means that compliance spending has peaked: While spending is slowing in some areas, expenses in other areas such as IT auditing and consulting as well as security and document management technology remains robust.
