Is an MBA the new key to becoming an A-list CIO?

If an MBA isn't already mandatory for A-list CIOs, it may be soon. CIO Magazine interviewed Mark Polansky, North American managing director of executive search firm Korn Ferry's IT Center of Expertise, as well as and Carl Gilchrist, the North American leader of the Spencer Stuart's Information Officers practice. Both report that that having an MBA is a plus because it speaks to two of the top criteria for CIO positions today: leadership ability and business acumen. While there are still plenty of examples of high-profile CIOs who do not have an MBA, future employers are taking a hard look at educational requirements as the top IT spot becomes more strategic. This is especially important for organizations who depend on their CIOs to get involved in long-term planning and business strategy implementations.

I do not believe the hype on the masters in Business degree any more. In the state of New York, and the Upperwest Harlem region for Manhattan, the news was colleges like columbia U, NYU ETC were driving his or her students bankrupt because the jobs were no longer out there in the Y@K. I then tossed in my head supposed these are just MBA players? Now you inform me that MBA's are back at the top. I have made my decision to complete my masters in health policy, it sounds like the MBA, but it differs because of epidemics and my JD in I have no idea.
