Internet Explorer 8 will feature a new "InPrivate" feature that is being touted as one of several security enhancements. When activated, Internet Explorer 8 will suspend tracking of browsing history, cookies or other identifying information. This effectively allows a user to surf anonymously, which is useful for an Internet café or a family machine, should one be planning a surprise for a loved one. Some, like Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet, are more skeptical, calling InPrivate the "porn mode" for IE. It is worth noting that Apple's Safari already has a similar feature, though the Mozilla team apparently dropped it from its Firefox 3 release because of technical difficulties. InPrivate will be available in Beta 2 of IE 8, which is expected to be out before the end of the month.
