HP research may ignite compute power

If the reports about a new technology developed by HP bear true, computing will get faster than ever in just a short time. A research team at HP Labs has combined nanotechnology with transistor technology to shrink the "interconnects" between transistors to produce immense free space on chips. The vendor is using a "field programmable nanowire interconnect," or FPNI, a derivative of a common approach called "field programmable gate array," which does not use nanowires.
