How Verizon aligned IT with its business goals

Imagine pulling in five different acquisitions resulting in 150 different computing applications to run, support and maintain and then whittling that number down to just over two dozen in an aggregation effort tied directly to aligning IT with business needs. That's exactly what Verizon's VP of IT has accomplished, and he says it's proof positive that establishing a "common cultural goal" of IT and a framework is key to gaining efficiency and achieving the alignment that often eludes many an enterprise.
