How to spot a bad CIO
A recent article in The Wall Street Journal said that it's often easy to spot problems in the IT department after the fact and "once the damage is done." There are plenty of signs at that point--strategies fail, profits drop or the company faces the scrutiny of regulators. But there are ways to head off disaster. Here are some indicators that may be advance signals of impending problems:
- High employee turnover.
- Rehashing the same ideas, projects and technologies.
- Firing existing employees and replacing them with people who've worked for him/her in the past.
