How Microsoft fought off open-source
When a state CIO took a stand to fight for open source within his public sector infrastructure, he knew from the start that it wouldn't be easy. What Peter Quinn may not have known, however, is how down and dirty the battle to move Microsoft Office out of the computing environment would eventually become. Not only did he lose his job, Microsoft and its lobbyists pushed the open-source effort right out the state's IT doors. It's a compelling story every public tech leader should read.
